The Humpers
Bio
The Humpers were created in 1989 when lead vocalist Scott “Deluxe” Drake and guitarist Jeff Fieldhouse, dismayed by the lack of high-energy rock and roll in the Southern California music scene, decided to take matters into their own hands. Within 3 years The Humpers had established themselves as the West Coast’s foremost purveyors of “punk and roll,” blowing minds and eardrums with their out-of-control stage show and roaring vinyl outbursts on such legendary underground labels as Sympathy for the Record Industry and Dionysus. In 1995 the group signed to Indie giant Epitaph Records and embarked on a 4-year campaign of touring and recording which cemented their reputation worldwide. In 1999, after 6 full-length albums and hundreds of wildly popular live performances across the U.S., Canada and Europe, The Humpers called it quits…. but, following a couple of highly successful reunion gigs, they have reformed this year for more shows and recording of new material. The amazing touring line-up of the 90’s is together again with Drake, Billy Burks, Mark “Anarchy” Lee, Jimi Silveroli and Mitch Cartwright all back in the fold. Interview
With Singer Scott Deluxe Drake
CM: Do you think that “alternative” and “indie” music has sucked all of the fun and life out of Rock and Roll?
SDD: Well, I hate putting labels like “indie”, “alternative”, “punk” etc…on music. If I don’t like something I just don’t listen to it….so no one is sucking out any of MY fun….
