The Glitterati
Bio
In 2004 five friends from Leeds decided to jump in a van and set off for London with nothing to their names but the clothes they were wearing, fueled by a self belief in there raw rock n roll sounds and excited by the adventures that london had in store for them the five guys formed THE GLITTERATI a band that demanded and got attention wherever they went. Later that year the band released the debut single Do you love yourself? on Alan Magees poptones label, the limited edition single sold out in the first week of release, and was the nme single of the week. Shortly after the band went on to sign with Atlantic Records after a bidding war including just about every major label in the uk, The glitterati gleefully enjoying as many free meals and drinks as they could get out of the chasing labels before finally signing with Atlantic. In 2005 the band released there first top 40 single You Got Nothing on Me, and followed this up with the debut self titled critically acclaimed album, recorded in Los Angeles with legendary producer mike clink the man behind Guns n Roses world beating Appetite for Destruction, the album included the singles Do you Love Yourself, Here Comes a Close Up, You Got Nothing on Me, Heartbreaker and Back in Power. They built up a large and loyal fanbase through constant touring throughout 2005/2006 touring with bands such as Kings of Leon, The Wildhearts, The Killers and Evanessence amongst others, their exciting, enigmatic live show not only recieved glowing reviews but also a nomination as best british newcomer at The Kerrang awards. After 2 years of constant touring the Glitterati started work on there 2nd album, but still found time to fit in two lengthy US tours, but in late 2007 Nic Denson and Jamie Snell decided to leave The Glitterati. Undeterred the three remaining members Paul Gautrey, John Emsley and Billy James carried on writing and in 2008 headed into the recording studio with producer Matt Hyde (Bullet for My Valentine, Slipknot, Gallows) and started work on album two. With two new members Baz Morrison and Gaff now onboard and bringing a new enthusiasm and dynamic to the table the album titled ARE YOU ONE OF US was completed in september 2008 and is set for release in early 2009. – mySpace
