Frankie Machine / The Flying Tigers
Bio
In 2000, Frankie Machine released their debut cd, “One”, on Mammoth Records. Their first (and only) single was “Sell Me”. The band dismembered when they realized there was already a group with the same name. Immediately, all Mammoth employees involved with “One” were fired for putting the company in copyright violation.
In 2001, ex-Frankie frontman Ryan Martin and drummer Gary Benson recruited Powerman 5000 bassist to form The Flying Tigers. Their self-titled debut was released on Atlantic Records the following year. The band’s first (and only) single, “Maybe” didn’t do too well, so Atlantic immediately decided to drop them from the label.
As stated by Ryan himself, Frankie Machine never really broke up. “We just fired Creston and changed the name”. And this obviously shows, as The Flying Tigers record is the perfect sequel to a perfect album entitled One. – MySpace
