Interview

A short Q & A with Sweet Water’s guitarist Credo

credo sweet waterCM:You guys were the only “grunge” band to play Woodstock in 1969 – was it amazing sharing the stage with Hendrix?
We can’t remember because of the brown acid.

CM: You’ve toured with lots of big bands (Alice in Chains, Iggy Pop, STP, Oasis, etc.) but you never really broke into the mainstream. Would you consider yourselves the “Anvil” of the Seattle scene? Maybe you should make a movie, it worked for them.
We just played Bumbershoot with Anvil. It rocked.

CM: Is it true you got an offer from the WWF to wrestle after your smack down on Scott Weiland?
One of the following is true, one is BS: I punched Flavor Flav in the face and he crumpled like a little baby. At the Viper Room in LA, I had sex with Christina Applegate in the bathroom.

CM: Being in Seattle during the grunge explosion of the early nineties must have been great (for everyone except Queensryche). Was it as cool as all us midwestern kids thought?
It was actually way cooler than you could have imagined.

sweet water logoCM: Sweet Water has the coolest devil horn logo. Do you have to pay Gene Simmons a royalty for that?
Gene pays us.

CM: Do you think flannel will make a comeback?
It never left.

CM: Do you guys have anything you want to promote? New material? Website?
Working on a new record now. www.sweetwaterrocks.com

CM: What obscure or under appreciated bands would you recommend people check out?
Turbonegro
Kill Cheerleader
The Only Ones
