Burning Brides
Bio
Burning Brides were formed in 1999 in Philadelphia by Dimitri and Melanie Coats. The couple met in New York City in 1995 at The Juilliard School. Melanie was about to graduate from the modern dance department. Dimitri had quit the acting program two years earlier to pursue music. They fell in love listening to records together and decided to form a heavy rock band. The couple travelled the country for a few years looking for a drummer and the right music scene from which to launch their assault. They eventually settled in Philadelphia, found drummer Mike Ambs, and headlined their first show on May 11, 1999 at The Khyber. The Brides quickly gained a reputation for their energetic live show, opening for the likes of The Melvins and Marilyn Manson. Tours with The White Stripes, Royal Trux, Mike Watt, Local H, and J. Mascis followed. – burningbrides.com
